Sun Sun SUN!
These past few days have been amazing! The sun has been out, birds have been singing, and people have been dancing, hiking, and soaking up the rays like sun-sponges. With each day nicer than the last, shorts and sandals have been the attire of choice around Olympia, and all of this vitamin D is clearly having a positive effect on people.
At the start of this quarter, I moved off campus to a house with four other guys on the west side of Olympia. It is a fantastic place. There is a giant deck and a big back yard, which is perfect for hanging out in the sunshine. On Saturday, my new roommates and I used the grill to fire up some burgers and had ourselves a picnic. It was such a perfect day!
Though not everyone is fortunate to have a giant backyard, Red Square and the Field have been totally packed with people napping, studying, reading, playing music, and/or frolicking around. Though I was busy today, I will out tomorrow in Red Square enjoying the sun and taking the day totally to myself if I get the chance. I’m really excited to read for my class: Marx can be a little tough to swallow sometimes, but if I’m out in the sun reading, then there is no way that I can be having a bad time, right?
Speaking of Marx, my new class is called “Marxist Theory”! It is incredibly fascinating, and I’m finding out very quickly that probably over 75% of the time that Marx is quoted or mentioned he is being misquoted or misunderstood. I’m incredibly excited to really dig deep in to this class and emerge with a great understanding of such a complex man.
Anyway, get outside, its sunny! Have a great week.
