Over the past week I found myself continually coming up with more and more ideas and points to include in my creative essay. It is rather funny that the one thing I almost dread (peer reviews) is what is helping me the most. There is something about writing and sharing that just makes me a nervous wreck. I guess like many others I am apprehensive about my writing. Will it convey what I want it to and will it make sense? Not to mention that it shares personal experiences in my life. People don’t always want to hear what you have to say.
I have the hardest time trying to make my paper flow and not be choppy. The second draft is markedly improved from my first draft, but it has more improvements and additions that need to be included. The peer reviews that I was given were very insightful and they provided great feedback. This really helps me to pin point where I need to go…what interests the reader the most. The personal connection and story appears to be the most interesting. I need to include more descriptions (set the scenes).
This weeks Seminar book, Wild Meat and the Bully Burgers, has brought up a particular topic that I am able to expand upon. The language barrier was so prevalent for my family when they immigrated. My father was significantly affected by his lack of English and this caused him to lash out and feel inadequate, much like the characters in this book. I plan to explore this and incorporate and connect this issue in my essay.
