I have to admit that I have really enjoyed working on my research paper. This project has required that I get up close and personal with several of my family members so that I can examine and piece together the various experiences that they had when they immigrated to the United States from Delflzijl, Holland. In this day and age when we are all so busy it was nice to just listen and learn.

My Aunt was a wealth of information. I listened to many childhood stories about my aunt and father. The parallels were so similar to many of the stories that we have read throughout this course. The common denominator of all of the books that we have read, thus far, are all coming of age stories. The stories I heard from my aunt and father are also coming of age stories.

I really gained a birds eye view of what my family went through. When I was young I was not even slightly interested in hearing about the past, now I can hardly get enough. Thinking back to my childhood days I can not find anything that compares to what they endured at such a young age.

All that I learned from my family gave me a view that is priceless. I was so lucky to hear first hand accounts of and experience that many others endured and prospered from.
