My topic has evolved and taken on a new journey, thanks to our creative writing exercises. I have managed to get even closer to my family through documenting their journey as immigrants from Holland and their arrival in the United States. My plan is to chronicle and connect many of the similarities between my family’s immigration and those of Asian Americans/Asian Pacific Islander decent. I realize that the difference in cultural backgrounds will impact just how closely these two cultures immigrating, but I believe I will find far more experiences in common that different.

One aspect that is of great interest to me is their culinary traits and how both would change over time due to the exposure to Americanized cooking. I suspect that any culture relocating to the United States would morph into something new due to the exposure to various cooking techniques as well as accessibility to new food products.
