Disorientation and Reorientation: Hawaii’s Monorail

Posted by on April 17, 2019

For those who have not lived on the island of Oahu, there is one thing that is frustrating to deal with on a daily basis. The traffic. Bumper to bumper proximity, taking an hour just to crawl forward one mile, and impatient drivers leads to a mess. Traffic was horrendous last I remembered with limited freeway space and not much room for expanding the roads. Due to being an island, there really is not much options for trying to resolve the traffic issue. The solution was a monorail system which has been in debate for over forty years. There are several points of contention with the major one being the disturbance of sacred burial sites.
