The three areas that I am interested in, and I would like to pursue, in Asian American Pop Culutre, are Street Art, Commercial Artists, and Asian American Gallery Work.
Street Art:
Street art is something that has been apart of my life. There are plenty of murals that pop up in my neighborhood and in the heart of downtown Seattle. The work tends to reflect the area it’s placed in. I want to look at the work done in Asian American Communities and how it leaves a mark for the people around it.
Commercial Art:
I want to get into the business of graphic novels, character concepts, and animation. I want to look at how being Asian American has shaped artists in their communities and relate it back to my own background, as I try to find myself in this expansive art world.
Gallery Work:
Gallery work is sometimes the best way to convey certain messages. Art work has a wide range of subjects that are talked about within the artists communities. It’s a more dimensional/emotional approach to issues that are usually only talked about. I want to see how Asian American, it transposed into a variety of Professional work.

I’d be most interested to see an examination of the street art, simply because I haven’t heard of it being done very often, and that could be a really interesting perspective on culture! Any of these topics has the potential to be really interesting though, so I’m interested to see what you wind up picking!
