Final Project Update – Week 3

I have decided to do my project on Ichiro Suzuki, because I feel he is one of the greatest baseball players of all time. I also think he is the greatest Japanese athlete that has played here in America. I am going to look at his appeal here in America and why he was so successful. I’m also going to explore his marketability and how the fact that he played for the Seattle Mariners really helped because here in Washington we have a large Asian American population. Ichiro was also one of the first big Japanese baseball players here in America and he helped usher in other Japanese players to come here to play in the MLB. I will look at studies done on marketability and compare the findings to Ichiro and look at all of the memorabilia that was made about him and look at his impact on the sport as a whole. I am also going to look at his appearance’s in video games, in commercials, various items with his likeness on them, and anything else I can find that he was involved in.
