Hajimemashite!
My name is 直登 (Nao to) 中島 (Naka shima). 中島 means “middle island.” Probably my ancestor lived in middle island or somewhere. 直 (Nao) means “straightly,” “honesty” and “earnestly,” 登 (To) means “to climb up” and “to advance.” I really like my name. As my parents named me with this meaning, I want to be a person who is honest, and earnestly go ahead toward anything through my life.
Once again, my name is Naoto Nakashima (I go by “Nao”, Na Oh). I’m an exchange student from Kobe (famous for Kobe Beef), Japan. I was born and raised in Japan, then came to the U.S. in last September for my Japanese University’s exchange program.
My major is developing Economics and Education in South-east Asian.Through this program in my last quarter at Evergreen, I’m challenging new studies to me, cultural studies, and want to learn about the impact of pop culture and the immigration in the U.S.
I have a wide range of interests in Pop culture. Especially, I like movies, TV shows, music, and also tattoo which has different ideas between Japanese and American.
In this blog, I’d like to share my ideas and views of Pop culture as one of international students.
I hope you enjoy my blog:)
