Blackpink – Kill This love EP (2019)

Blackpink came back to the scene with their HIT Single “Kill This love” produced by Teddy and shattered streaming records. They are the first artist to break 100 Million Youtube views in in less than three days, a record previously held by PSY with this release of “Gentleman”. Blackpink also broke the 24hr streaming record garnering a massive 56.7 Million views beating previous record holder Ariana Grande with 55.4 Million. Blackpink’s success in America is a preview as to what’s to come for the genre since other genres like Raeggeton have been flooding the masses. Korean Pop music has now become mainstream.

Lil Nas X – Old Town Road (Feat. Billy Ray Cyrus) 

Billboard after they removed the original song from the Billboard Country due to the song not having sufficient country elements, Billy Ray Cyrus stepped in and collaborated with Lil Nax X.

Lil Nas X song went viral late march on the social media app Tik Tok, and soon after that it entered the country charts at #53 and it kept rising until it peaked at #13. Once peaking billboard after consideration took the song off the charts which caused a social media uproar on twitter which helped the song get more attention and it is now #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart as of April 13, 2019.
