Reflections for week 1

Figuring out this word press site to fit exactly what I wanted was kind of hard. I found it soothing to paint just what color dominated a square of a grid of the space I was looking, and found it helpful to get at what color was in a space rather than what was actually there. For some reason my brain could do the upside down contour better than just drawing what I saw and its probably because I slowed down and actually concentrated on how far apart like the nose and the mouth were. It actually ended up better than my first blind contour. I found these exercises very beneficial to getting back into painting. I had felt like I had stagnated in my artistic practice like one our first readings said and it was really the cure for that. I look forward to doing more of this in the future.
