ORANGE BEACH, Ala. – Evergreen women’s soccer senior Teresa Lopez (Yakima, Wash./Walla Walla CC) has been named 2012 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete, as announced by the NAIA on Friday morning.
Lopez earlier was named Bank of The Cascades Academic All-Conference following her outstanding efforts in both the classroom and on the field. She appeared in 10 games for the Geoducks this season, playing a primarily defensive role for Evergreen.
A total of 492 women’s soccer players were honored with the award. In order to be nominated by an institution’s head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.
