LA GRANDE, Ore. – Following a hard-fought 1-1 tie against 22nd-ranked Rocky Mountain on Saturday, senior defender and captain Brady Espinoza (Pasco, Wash./Pasco HS/Walla Walla CC) has been named Red Lion Cascade Conference Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
Espinoza, the 2012 CCC Defensive Player of the Year, anchored the back line that held Rocky to just one goal over 110 minutes.
In addition to holding the Bears to just the one score after RMC came to Olympia averaging 2.67 goals per game, the Geoducks defense held RMC striker Oliver Gore to just three shots, none of which were on goal. Gore came into the game with five goals in three games played.
Espinoza previously earned player of the week honors on Oct. 22, 2012. This is the first weekly honor for the Geoducks this season.
Evergreen will next be in action on Sunday when they head north to take on Pacific Lutheran in a non-conference match. First kick with the Lutes is set for 2:30 p.m. in Parkland.
