LACEY, Wash. – Senior Septi Danciu scored twice and assisted on another as the 12th-ranked Concordia Cavaliers blanked the Evergreen Geoducks, 4-0, in a Cascade Conference men’s soccer match on Tuesday night at South Sound Stadium in Lacey, Wash.
Danciu opened up the scoring in just the third minute as he took advantage of a free kick from about 30 yards out for his first goal of the match. Michael Chamberlain made it 2-0 in the 14th minute, beating Evergreen keeper Mauricio Sanchez (East Wenatchee, Wash./Eastmont/Wenatchee Valley CC) to a cross from Radcliff McDougald and putting a head on it for the score.
The Cavs made it 3-0 heading into the break at the 38 minute mark as Ben Culpan sent in a cross to the box and Danciu finished from eight yards out for his second score of the night. Despite the three goal lead, CU only held a 7-4 advantage on shots in the first period.
Concordia scored their final goal in the 66th minute as Danciu sent a long pass up the left side and Chamberlain got a boot on the ball, chipping it over Sanchez for his second goal.
The match was a physical one, with 39 total fouls called and eight cautions shown. Each team was shown four yellow cards on the night.
The Geoducks hit the road this weekend, traveling to Caldwell, Idaho on Saturday to take on College of Idaho in a CCC counter. Concordia will also be on the road, facing off with first-place Corban on Saturday in Salem.
