ESMP Budget Hearing

Well yesterday was a big day for us.. We had to present a budget proposal to S&A for this years project and performances.. Unfortunately…it got denied… JUST KIDDING!!! Everything we proposed for the budget was approved! So we’ll have an album/USB product, a concert mid winter, and a concert on graduation week!!

End of Fall Quarter

Well Fall Quarter came and went. We did make a lot of progress though! I want to thank all of those who have attended the meetings, provided feedback, and helped along the way, couldn’t have made it this far without all of you.

We were able to advertise through KAOS; the Cooper Point Journal; the Google Group Opium, a Reddit Subpage for Evergreen, Flyers, Tabling (special thanks to the tablers we had this quarter, hope you’re in for the next round!) including handbills, and through addressing the audio classes.

We submitted our budget proposal to S&A for a budget hearing on Wednesday,  January 8th, 2014. That will determine our funding for the ESMP this year. As for the physical product, we have decided on a 4-panel Eco Wallet, an 8pg booklet, full color print CD, and a low-profile 4GB USB drive. In our budget, we also included costs for two concert performances. One performance would be at the end of Winter Quarter, and the other would be the Wednesday of graduation week. There is a possibility that we may only have enough funding, through budget negotiation, for one. Our aim is to have about six bands/musicians, selected from this years album, to perform at these events.

If you are still interested in becoming an ESMP member, it’s not too late! We have weekly meetings and welcome any and all students. A set meeting time is still being decided for Winter Quarter, but I’ll be sure to post on here once it’s been settled.

Have a Holiday and a Happy New Year!

First ESMP 2013/2014 Meeting!

If you are interested in joining the  Evergreen Student Media Project committee this year, I encourage you to attend our weekly meetings! Each Friday this quarter, beginning tomorrow, we will have a meeting from 1-2pm in the 5.1 mix room (Lib. 1328) to discuss this year’s ESMP. Discussions will cover promotion/advertising, package design, song selection for the album, and plenty of other content regarding the project.

Hope to see you there!

Sound Design For Film

Just finished up the summer Sound Design for Film course and the student work was spectacular! Here are a few pics!

Sebastian’s final piece for the Electronic Music course

Sebastian Lasbo has been experimenting on his own with synthesizers since he was 15, but Introduction to Electronic music was his first formal exposure to electronic music. He enjoys the infinite freedom that comes with electronic music composition and its universal accessibility. He’s a Northwest native that calls Lopez Island his home and a 2013 graduate.

Ben’s final piece for Advanced Multitrack Composition 2013

This was my final project for Multitrack Composition. I wanted to create a blend of electronic and analog sounds within the context of dub and funk styles. I composed all elements of the song and recorded friends playing drums and singing, plus myself on bass and guitar. Two of my favorite microphones that I used were a Coles 4038 and a Cascade Fathead.  I sequenced the instrumental parts with electronic elements and field recordings in Logic 9.
