Peter Bohmer
I teach political economy at the Evergreen State College and have been active in diverse social movements since the late 1960's. I continue to believe in and work for an economic system based on human dignity for all, where poverty and exploitation are abolished, and where work is meaningful and fulfilling. I believe another system is possible that is sustainable and where cooperation, self-management and solidarity are fostered; i.e., a participatory socialist alternative to capitalism.
In fall, winter 2012-2013, I am teaching Political Economy and Social Movements; Race, Class and Gender with Michael Vavrus. In spring, 2013. I will be teaching Uprisings: Comparing and Contrasting the years 1968 and 2011 with Elizabeth Williamson.
In 2011-2012, I co-taught Venezuela: Building Economic and Social Justice program with Anne Fischel. Our program visited Venezuela from January to March, 2012.
In fall, 2010, I taught a Student Originated Studies program that was connected to the Center for Community Based Learning and Action (CCBLA). They do great work connecting Evergreen to the broader community.
In fall, 2009 and winter, 2010, I taught Political Economy and Social Movements with Larry Mosqueda and Savvina Chowdhury. In spring, 2010, I taught Current Economic and Social Issues with Peter Dorman.
In 2008-2009, I taught, Venezuela: Building Economic and Social Justice, with Anne Fischel. We traveled to Venezuela for winter quarter.
In spring, 2008, I taught Political Economy and Social Movements with Dan Leahy and Jeanne Hahn.
