One can only ponder on the complete lack of interest in such subjects as these from the responses to come forth thus far. I however remain avidly fascinated by the medium of sequential imaginaries. By confining images to panels and allowing the reader to place in all extra effects (such as tone and manner of speech in the characters, or various noises and sound effects) a truly unique interactive experience can be conjured in the mind of the reader. The connective impact on perception and imagination can only increase with continued perusal.
Another interesting notion is the breaking of the boundaries of perceptive reality by infusing the presented imagery with vibrancy and meaning supplied wholey by the viewer. The presentation of specific similar references of human experience allows for the viewer to interact with the memories of shared experience but also to mold and reshape it to best suit the viewers understanding of it’s personal experience.
Roy Crane is who I admire most of all the early cartoonists. The drama and artifice he was able to sculpt from light continues to amaze!
