For this independent-learning contract, the student will enroll in and complete the curriculum for Enterprise for Equity’s business planning program, study regulations surrounding United States agriculture, attend three agriculture conferences in the Pacific Northwest region, and compete in a competition for businesses that solve environmental issues.
Learning Objective 1:
I will work on developing the skills to understand the basic financial, legal, and social frameworks to create a successful start-up business.
This will entail:
– enrollment and attendance in Enterprise for Equity’s Business Training Program
– networking with various stake-holders
This will result in evaluation of:
– work associated with the Business Training Program
Learning Objective 2:
I will cultivate a better understanding of the United States Department of Agriculture’s Organic Program.
This will entail:
– attendance of the Organicology conference
This will result in evaluation of:
– summary of notes taken on Thursday of the conference
Learning Objective 3:
I will learn how to raise funds through alternative resources.
This will entail:
– submission into University of Washington’s Arthur W.Buerk Center Alaska Environmental Innovation Challenge
This will result in evaluation of:
– one 5-7 page business summary
