OLYMPIA, Wash. – Beginning on Mother’s Day and ending on the eve of Independence Day, the Evergreen Department of Recreation and Athletics and the Friends of the Evergreen Library will be hosting the three-race The Evergreen State College 5K Series, with all races conducted on USATF Certified Courses on The Evergreen State College campus.
The first race in the series takes place on May 8 as the Geoducks invite harriers to honor their mothers during the Run For Your Mom 5K, set to begin at 9:00 a.m. The second race will take place five weeks later on June 12 with The Evergreen Classic 5K, also scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. The series will conclude under the stars on July 3 with The Torchlight Night 5K, beginning at 9:00 p.m.
While Overall and Overall Masters award, as well as Age Group awards, will be given for each race, the big prize will be for runners who compete in all three competitions, as they will be eligible for the $100 cash prize that will go to the overall male and female winners.
Second place will be worth $50 for both male and female while third place will earn $30 for both male and female. The standings will be computed by combining the race times, with the lowest cumulative time being declared the winner.
