OLYMPIA, Wash. – With the 2011 Evergreen Classic just over two weeks away, Evergreen Cross Country and Friend of the Evergreen Library are busy preparing for the June 12th race, which is the second in the three-race Evergreen 5k Series.
Starting at 9:00 a.m. at the bus loop near Red Square, the race will take runners on a tour of the distinctly Pacific Northwest campus of The Evergreen State College. Awards will be presented for both the Overall and Overall Masters, as well as Age Group awards, for both men and women.
In addition, the race will count towards the final standings for the series, which will have a $100 cash prize for both the overall male and female winners. After May’s Run For Your Mom 5k, Andrew Prentice holds a 36 second lead on the men’s side while Kaleigh Bishop has a comfortable lead of over three minutes in the women’s standings.
While harriers will have a chance to win awards based on their speed, all runners will have a chance to win as there are numerous prizes lined up for the post-race random drawing, including gift certificates from Iron Rabbit, Orca Books, Pints and Quarts, The Olympic Wine Merchant, Great Wolf Lodge, Waterstreet Café and Bar, Brewery City Pizza, Outback Steakhouse, Tugboat Annies, Thriftway, Susan Rosen and Associates (massage) and Meconi’s.
Evergreen would like to thank Washington Energy Services, South Sound Running, FLT Consulting, OnTheRunEvents.com, Guerilla Running and Databar Events for their support of the 2011 The Evergreen State College 5K Series.
