OLYMPIA, Wash. – Lacing up their shoes on Mother’s Day morning, 22 runners took to the course for the 2011 Run For Your Mom 5K on Sunday on the campus of The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Wash. Andrew Prentice won the men’s race while Kaleigh Bishop took the title on the women’s side.
Prentice, running with the Guerilla Running Racing Club, covered the course in 16:43.98 to take first by over 30 seconds over former Evergreen cross country coach and fellow GRRC teammate Craig Dickson.
Bishop, running unattached, easily won the women’s race in a time of 21:10.50, finishing over three minutes ahead of her nearest competitor.
Both Prentice and Bishop now take the lead in the standings for the 2011 Evergreen 5K series. The Evergreen Classic 5k, the second race in the three-race series, is set for 9 a.m. on June 12. The series is set to conclude on July 3 under the stars with The Torchlight Night 5k.
