*What caught your eye about Butler’s program/ what are you excited about?
Brainstorming:
- Our electives include screenwriting, young adult fiction, literary editing, publishing, and teaching creative writing. (I’m interested in combining my passion for nonfiction with the offered electives)
- You’ll have opportunities to edit content for our literary magazine or small press, have coffee or a meal with guests of the Visiting Writers Series, and work with top-flight, full-time faculty (want to work for literary magazine) (Visiting Writers Series)
- Focus on Service!
- In the past 10 years, medical professionals and clinicians have recognized the therapeutic value of creative writing. A discipline once practiced only in college classrooms with a singular goal of publication in top-flight literary journals or academic presses, creative writing is now recognized as a tool for healing, maintaining wellness, and expressing the buried memories of trauma. (As someone who has spent the majority of their life writing through trauma…)
