Back at it Again!
I have been so incredibly busy that I have left all of you faithful blog readers in the dark about what’s been going on up here at evergreen. So I’ll just try to sum up all the cool stuff I’ve been up to.
My class went to Seattle on a field trip, and we got to visit the Cedar River Watershed, the Seattle Public Library, The Chapel of St. Ignatius at Seattle University, and the Bradner Community Garden Park. They were examples of sustainable design efforts, as well as community efforts to create spaces that are pleasant to be in and also serve their patrons well. The projects varied in size and purpose, but I learned a lot from being able to go check out real life examples of sustainable design.
The following week, our class got into groups of 6 and designed, built, and spent the night in a shelter. We had three days to do it, and limited materials. It was really though, and I felt some good bonding going on in our group. It was like a campout! And we all went down to the beach and hung out before we went to bed.
Since then, class has been really busy and has only proceeded to get even busier. I am spending most of my time at school, but on the weekends (and some weekdays) I’ve found enough time to go to several concerts and movies (the Olympia Film Society just had their 25th anniversary and showed a ton of great movies!).
The weather has also been really nice and sunny lately, which is strange for November but welcome nonetheless. And of course, Mt. Rainier has been RIDICULOUSLY huge and close. Oh, and the other day it was so foggy I couldn’t see fifty feet in front of me, and so some friends and I went on an adventure through the mist. We didn’t find as many monsters as we’d hoped.
Well, see you all next week! (I will actually blog, I swear).
