1) Each week we will study the basic positions and movements of ballet. Each class we add new positions and steps. We will be learning the vocabulary of ballet. We will also be exploring the concepts of direction, tempo, balance, energy, focus and form.

2) In addition to learning beginning ballet, each week we will be exploring different movement and exercise techniques that compliment and support ballet/performing arts. We will cover yoga, developmental movement therapy, focus exercises, Pilates, EFT, and trance/improv. dance. As each course varies slightly depending on the interests of the students, there is no fixed syllabus describing what will be covered each week in regards to these modalities.

3) There will be two different lectures and class time will be shorter on those two days, this is for the Beginning Ballet I class only.

4) I recommend you read “Basic Ballet” by Joyce Mackie. this is an excellent book with pictures of the basic Ballet positions and vocabulary. It is available at the Campus Bookstore.
