Lab Manager 2013

Academic Lab Manager Conference June 17-19, 2013

Call for Presentations

Our call for presentations will begin on January 3rd 2013.

This years conference theme is: “Thinking beyond the machines”.

Thinking beyond the machines means thinking systematically, thinking about higher level structures and automation. When you have a problem you need to think beyond the level of the individual machine and the individual issue. Solve the problem systematically with organization, planning and automation and you solve that kind of problem forever.

Thinking beyond the machines means literally thinking about something other than computers. Consider the purpose of computing in education. What differentiates our labs and spaces from groups of computers in corporate environments? how do we best serve the needs of our specific users.

Thinking beyond the machines means thinking about the cloud, about where data and apps live, how users access them on the fly and from multiple devices.

  • The systems
  • The people
  • The cloud

Presentations should be approximately 45 minutes.
