SALEM, Ore. – Shooting at least 50% in all the major categories, the Corban Warriors shot past the visiting Evergreen Geoducks, 100-72, in a Cascade Collegiate Conference men’s basketball game on Saturday night in Salem, Ore.
Things looked good for the Geoducks (7-14, 4-7 CCC) early as they took the lead just 75 seconds in on a three-pointer from Marice Tolliver (Tacoma, Wash./Lower Columbia CC) but the Warriors (14-9, 4-7 CCC) took over not long after that, hitting the first of their nine first-half three pointers as they quickly built a double-digit lead over Evergreen. Corban shot 50% from behind-the-arc in the first period to take a 45-29 halftime lead.
In the second half, the game continued to go Corban’s way as the Warriors continued to hit their shots, particularly from outside the arc. Evergreen continued to play hard but the lead built by Corban simply proved to be too mighty as the Geoducks fell, 100-72. The Warriors finished the game shooting 51% from the field, 50% from three-point range and 78% from the charity stripe as the home squad picked up the win.
Evergreen was led by 17 points from Tolliver, who also added a pair of steals. Larry Green (Seattle, Wash./Grays Harbor CC) added 15 points while Tyrell Dixon (Tacoma, Wash./Mount Tahoma HS) and Josh Troyer (Vancouver, Wash./Lower Columbia CC) each added 10 points in the losing effort.
Corban was paced by 26 points from Jake Mauermann, with 24 of those points coming from three-point range. Jordan Carter added 16 points and Erik Cronrath added 13 in the win. Jonathan Ramirez and Ian Logan each scored 10 points to round out the Warriors in double-digit scoring.
The Geoducks only have one game on tap next week as they will travel up to Kirkland on Friday to take on in-state rival Northwest University.
