Box Score
OLYMPIA, Wash.—Evergreen senior Josh Troyer (Vancouver, Wash. / Lower Columbia) had a season high 21 points as three other Geoducks (1-2 CCC) scored in double-digit figures at home in a 74-70 conference win against Corban University at the CRC Gymnasium. Troyer had 13 of his 21 points in the second half while the senior guard shot 5-7 from the three-point arc and 8-10 from the field.
The Geoducks and Warriors were back and forth for most of the first quarter and took a slight edge toward the end of the first half as Troyer and Johnny Sarysz (Seattle, Wash. / Lindbergh HS/ South Puget Sound) both hit threes before the half ended. Evergreen went into the intermission with a 34-31 lead. The Geoduck defense was stifling as they allowed Erik Cronrath (Battle Ground, Wash. / Battle Ground HS), the conference’s second leading scorer (18.0 points/g), to just two points in the first half. The Warriors (1-1 CCC) went 6-15 from three-point land in the second half to try and get back into the game but eventually fell to the Geoducks by four points. The victory is the Geoducks second in a row after snapping an eight game skid Wednesday night at the University of Puget Sound.
Ian Logan (Aloha, Ore. / Aloha HS) and Nash Keene (Aumsville, Ore. / Cascade HS) led the Warriors with 16 points each while Logan added six rebounds.
Geoduck freshman guard Mikey Hope (Tacoma, Wash. / Foss HS), who has worked his way up from sixth man to starter, scored 18 points and contributed four assists in the winning effort.
Evergreen State hosts Northwest Christian University tomorrow night at 5:30 in the CRC Gymnasium.
