PORTLAND, Ore. – With five goals by five different players, the 12th-ranked Concordia Cavaliers made easy work of the Evergreen Geoducks, 5-0, in a Cascade Conference men’s soccer match on Wednesday afternoon at Delta Park in Portland, Ore.
Concordia (13-1-1, 10-1-1 CCC) got on the scoreboard first in the 32nd minute on a blast by Facundo DiPascuale that found the upper right corner to give them a 1-0 lead over the Geoducks (4-9-2, 3-7-2). The Cavs struck again in the 34th minute when DiPascuale sent in a free kick from 30 yards out and Michael Chamberlain headed it in from five yards out for the 2-0 lead.
The home squad made it 3-0 in the 53rd minute as Matt Eronemo put one past Evergreen keeper Christian Pettit (Sprint Branch, Texas/UT-San Antonio). The lead hit 4-0 in the 58th minute as Evan Denmark put one in the net for the Cavs. Concordia continued to pile it on in the 62nd minute when Sept Danciu scored on the assist from Nate Boatright, making it 5-0.
Concordia outshot Evergreen, 26-8, on the match, forcing Pettit to make six saves on the match. Cole Dahle made two saves for Concordia before being relieved by Scott Gross, who also made two saves, playing the final 17:56 of the match.
The Geoducks return to Washington State for the remainder of the season, making the trek north to Kirkland on Saturday afternoon to face off against rival Northwest, beginning at 3:00 pm on NU Soccer Field.
