LAKE STEVENS, Wash. – Playing their final non-conference game of 2011, the Evergreen Geoducks were shutout by the Trinity Lutheran Eagles, 4-0, in a non-conference men’s soccer match on Wednesday afternoon at Cavelero Mid High School in Lake Stevens, Wash.
The Eagles (12-4-1) put in their first goal in the 16th minute on a free kick by Eduardo Alves from just outside the box following a hard foul by Evergreen (4-11-2) keeper Mitch Treend (Vancouver, Wash./Prairie HS) that earned the freshman a yellow card.
Trinity Lutheran scored again in the 72nd minute when Alves struck again, taking a pass from Carlos Camacho before finishing in the left corner for the 2-0 lead. The duo switched roles in the 75th minute as Alves sent in a corner kick that Camacho was able to gain control of at the goal line before tapping in for the score.
The Eagles wrapped up the scoring in the 79th minute when Armend Makolli intercepted the ball and caught Treend out of net for the long distance score from about 40yds out as TLC collected the 4-0 win.
Evergreen was outshot, 12-5, on the afternoon, including 9-3 in the final 45. Treend finished with three saves on the afternoon while TLC keeper Roman Vazquez had two saves to collect the clean sheet.
The Geoducks will wrap up the 2011 campaign on Saturday afternoon when they play host to Northwest Christian in a Cascade Conference match set to begin at 3:00 pm in Olympia, Wash.
