The Evergreen State College’s Galerie Fotoland hosts “Tiny Beasts Live Among Us,“ a series of pet portraits by Portland based photographer Carli Davidson from February 1st- 28th, 2011. Her images capture the humor and individual personalities of the creatures we adopt into our lives. “Animals are my people. They’re honest, loving, food-motivated, and do totally gross things on a regular basis,” states Davidson. A 2006 Evergreen Graduate, Davidson’s love for animals extends over a sixteen year career of working with animal rescues, nature preserves, and the Oregon Zoo. Passionate about animal rescue, she often photographs disabled or abused pets that are undergoing rehabilitation. These compelling portraits capture the pets’ vulnerability as well as their temperament and charm, encouraging the viewer to reconsider their role in the animal-human relationship.
A reception will be held on February 9th from four to seven pm on the first floor of the Evergreen State College’s Library Building. Refreshments will be available. A portion of the print proceeds will be donated to the local charity “The Birth Attendants: Prison Doula Project.”
