I’m thinking of ownership/authenticity/replication/duplication. Once you release something you have come to view as yours into the universe, it can no longer be yours. I can then be chopped up, (re)articulated to say the exact opposite of what you said. This is terrifying. Context is so important to our work. How can we keep our work from being misconstrued?
The Stonewall Riot was co-opted by the gay rights movement.
Nietzsche was co-opted by the Nazi Party.
The whole of  ancient Greek culture and history was co-opted by they Anglo-saxons.
How will my work be co-opted?
Sometimes I’m so pretentious.
