Final version of “Letters in the Sand” posted on my website

June 8th, 2009 by sarjer10

At last, the final version of Letters in the Sand, which will be screened on Wednesday, is available to the public at my website.  The flash video encoding may not be of the highest possible quality, but I think it looks pretty good.  I’ve also got three of my projects from last quarter on there, and four of my projects from Fall quarter (well not quite yet, they aren’t all finished encoding, but I’ll have all four up by the end of the day).  I’m hoping to get the rest of the projects I’ve done over the past two quarters uploaded by the end of the week, once I get my 16mm film back from AlphaCine.

The FINAL final cut…

June 6th, 2009 by sarjer10

OK, here it is…  the final cut.  Well, probably.  Tell me what you think of the changes I’ve made.  I think it’s all pretty good, but I’m not sure how reliable my judgement is at this late stage.  If there’s anything that really doesn’t work I’ll probably have time to change it tomorrow.

I can’t post such a large video on my blog, but you can see it here at my website:

Letters in the Sand – Rough Cut 8 (I think)

June 5th, 2009 by sarjer10

I finally figured out how to post media files to my blog again: so here’s the latest cut of Letters in the Sand.  This one isn’t entirely complete–as you can see, there are some images towards the end that I decided to change, but haven’t decided what to change them to yet.  And I didn’t include the credits at all (to save space.)

Tell me what you think of these changes…

I just recorded two new acapella takes of “California Sunset”.

Which one do you think is better?

The new “California Sunset” mix – part 1

May 29th, 2009 by sarjer10

I’m working on the new mix of the theme song for my film.  I’m basically starting from the ground up.  First I recorded a temp drum track, and then converted that into a midi drum track in Digital Performer.  Here is the midi drum track (it doesn’t sound like much, but there’s more to come):

Next I’m going to record a new vocal temp track, then a synth-bass track, then a synth-organ track, and then (at last) the final vocal track, and if I have time, a synth-guitar track and a second drum track.

First rough edit

Just a little something to give you an idea of what it’s going to be like.  The titles are there to indicate what narration will go with which images.  First partial rough edit of Letters in the Sand (about 4 min, 5.3 MB): letters_rough_edit1
