ME!!!

My name is Meg and I am a Junior at Evergreen. I originally hail from the great state of Minnesota, but ever since I moved to Washington two years ago, I have felt very much at home.

I came to Evergreen based on my experience with traditional schooling- and how much I disliked it. I never thought I would go to college; never thought I could go to college. Within my first quarter here I figured out that in fact, college was just the place for me. I loved learning, I loved school; and in fact, I now plan on a lifelong devotion to the wondrous world of education.

I am currently enrolled in a class called Gateways: Popular Education and Political Economy . In addition to the academic work in this class, we work as peer-learners in a maximum-security institution for juveniles once a week, facilitating and participating in cultural diversity workshops and college classes. This unique program is giving me an opportunity I could get nowhere else. Plus, its super fun.

When not at school, I work at a local elementary school, which I love. I am trying to teach myself to play the banjo and speak better Spanish (or speak it at all…depends on how you look at things). I also enjoy planning my life and watching things grow. These things happen in varying ways.
