Airborne Swords and Floating Snakes…
For the most part, major production is being halted for the next two weeks as I await Harmony’s return. Mass amounts of the “little details” are my main focus at the moment (as well as helping James and Tasha with their films). Currently I’m working on light painting for the part when the Swordmaster splits his sword into five. Only very little material of the swords was actually done on set, so I’m getting numerous shots of the sword we’re using with a variety of lighting styles from every angle to composite in later. It’s a lengthy undertaking but also relieving, as I’m finally to a point where I can work on the film alone without requiring help for a little while.
My goal is to have all the parts involving sword compositing shot and edited by the end of next week (and by that point I also hope to have begun to complete some of the easier shots of Trevor Hart as the Trapmaker in the woods). I’m also working on getting lots and lots of light entities (the flying snake-like creatures throughout the film) shot, and have decided to do all credits for the film in light painting, so I’ll be working on a light graffiti alphabet as well.
There is a massive amount of work left to complete for The Lightcrafter, which has me a little concerned, but if I can stay as productive as I have been it won’t be impossible. Sound design is still a troubling aspect that will likely not get as much attention as I’d hope, but I’m going to try my darnedest to finish principle photography in week 5 — hopefully this is feasible.
In the meantime, enjoy some work-in-progress stills from the film!
