If I was stuck on some crazy far away island for god knows how long and I only had the song “Ooh Ahh” by Grits to listen too, I think I would still be a pretty happy camper. Well…as happy as one could be to be stuck on a disserted island. There is just something about that song that makes everything okay. Ever since the first time I heard the song I felt that. There is just something comforting about it that reassures you that everything will end up how it’s supposed to.

“Ooh Ahh” doesn’t be very popular with people, just in the way of I never hear people talking about it or playing it. But the second I hear it I get this overwhelming feeling that I’m getting a hug from a loved one or being taken under someone’s wing. Hearing ooh ahh in the background during most of the song seems almost haunting it just flows into your mind and raps around your brain never to let go until the song is over and life continues. Time stops. The rhythmic piano that plays over the back beat is another comforting sound that reminds me that things will be good or give me the realization that life is pretty good after all. It’s not a very complicated song but then at the same time I feel like there is so much meaning that I can’t even begin to grasp.

“It’s time likes these that make me say lord if you see please come my way.” It could be that this song is my religious vice. The way I can come to terms and have things make since when in life they just confuse me. Ooh Ahh is an escape a way for me to take a breather for a good four minutes or so and relax.

This has been my favorite song of all time since the first time I heard it in good ol’ E-town four years ago, and I think it will remain to be just that for years to come. It’s my song, the song I always turn back to through all the phases and experiences that my life entails. So thank you Grits for creating my favorite song of all time.

“Misunderstood”(Don’t get it)- Lil Wayne

Reasons why Wayne is a genius and why “Misunderstood” is such a good song:

It’s relatable

It goes from song to preach

Al Sharpton

Misunderstandings of races

An alternative message of how to deal

Don’t take sh** from no one

All freestyle (just another perfect example of his genius)

Chillin’ tunes

He sets you up for his preach session

Realism

Strong points

Makes you think about things you might not have before

Intelligent

Talk to one before you lend an opinion

Casper the Friendly Ghost

Uncomplicated beat which makes you pay more attention to what is being said

Turns words around on you before you realize what is going on
