Return to Evergreen, May 18-20, is the College’s 40th anniversary celebration. On October 4, 1971, Evergreen’s first president, Charles McCann, and the founding faculty of the college held the first day of classes for 1,178 new students. The following June, 21 of those students received their diplomas, becoming the Class of ’72, Evergreen’s first graduates. Forty years later, with over 40,000 alumni around the world, we are celebrating this milestone.
Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to participate in two featured events:
- The Presidents Seminar: Evergreen Past and Future facilitated by Michael Zimmerman, Provost on Friday, May 18th, from 11-12:30pm in the CRC
- 40th Anniversary Party featuring live music and a beer garden on Saturday, May 19th, from 6-10 pm on Red Square
Volunteers are still needed to staff the events of the weekend and any contribution of your time and energy is appreciated. Those who volunteer at least six hours will receive a pass for the entire weekend. Complete the volunteer form online. Staff may also register to participate in all of the events of the weekend at a discounted cost of $95.
