The Contemplative Space located in Seminar 1, 4115, opened with an informal reception on Friday, June 8.
This room will be available for individual prayer and meditation to students, staff and faculty Monday through Friday from 8am until 5pm beginning on June 12th. If you are interested in continuing to develop the space as a place for nondenominational, individual meditation and prayer the Contemplative Space Group is planning to continue working on the structure and definition of this space as needs and usage reveal. All College community members are welcomed to join the group and be part of this discussion.
Many thanks to all who have helped to make this space a reality: Art Costantino; Phyllis Lane; Paul Gallegos; Patti Zimmerman; Talcott Broadhead; Tino Gutierrez; Paul Potasnik; Kirk Knittle; members of the Contemplative Space Group: Raquel Salinas, Amadou Ba, Marjorie Hunt, Gloria Gaetz; and to the many students who have come to the First Peoples’ office and to other offices on campus to emphasize the need for such a space.
Again, on behalf of the Contemplative Space Group, I warmly invite you to visit.
