Postgres Upgrade

Project Summary:

This project is to bring our Postgresql server version up to 9.3 from version 8.4.    A new server will be created and run in parallel to our current Postgres server, Paint.   The new server will be a virtual machine, while paint is hardware.   Separating paint’s functions into separate virtual machines will allow us to separate cpu/network/memory/io resources and thereby be able to identify and isolate problems.  The VMware system has the possibility of having more I/O bandwidth and redundancy.
