One of many meals shared with Ze’s family. I am sitting at the table with the men because I was an honored guest

The women’s table. They often ate last because they were so busy hosting.

An outdoor stove where most of the cooking happened

A caramelized rabbit stew

Tempura battered toon leaves. We saw the tree this leaf grows on everywhere! It has a strong herb like taste.

Fresh fish from the market

Cutting up home-raised rabbit meat

A typical meal (while we were visiting) and a couple of Ze’s aunts

Goat Stew, topped with cilantro

rabbit and goat dishes

delicious Chinese variety of long beans

I loved that this was a normal site for this kid, not scared at all! Vastly different reaction than most American children I know.

Ze and her Aunts

People bring cuts of meat to their local sausage maker, we tried at least 4 different styles while we were here.
