Learning Objectives Activities that will help me to attain this objective What my sponsor will evaluate
Learn about regional Chinese cuisine. Studying different regions of China and eating their regional cuisine. Consulting blogs, cookbooks and other sources before and after visiting a region or restaurant to give more context and depth to our experience. Writing about the flavors present in certain regional dishes. Relating back to what we have learned in Stuckey’s Taste What You’re Missing. We plan on visiting some of these regions: Beijing, Hunnan, Sichuan, Shaanxi, Yunnan, Hangzhou, Shanghai. We will possibly attend a cooking class as well in Guilin, Guangxi. Writings that I will enter on our blog with photos and short videos.
Media and documenting skills. Taking photos and videos that are representative of our experiences and learning. We will be updating a wordpress blog. Short video clips and photos we post on our blog to go along with writings
Learn how the climate, landscape, and culture of different regions interact with the cuisine, including the agricultural products of the regions. Traveling around China by train bus and car visiting agricultural sites  like orchards and possibly tea farms and farmer’s markets taking note of produce and goods offered. Talking to farmers and finding special local produce. Watching the documentary series A Bite of China as well as others we will update. Some books we plan on using include but are not limited to, The Last Chinese Chef and more that we will update. Write ups on our blog. Any photos and short video clips on our blog.
