Terroir +______ Components
The terroir of Coffee can be considered as the equilibrium between soil management, climate, ethical values, and the relationship encountered between these principles and humans. These processes when applied equally create a balance of sustainability and morality which aid in the promotion of flavor in the final product.
During the cupping at Olympia Coffee Roasters—with the assistance of written flavor profiles in front of each cup—I was able to detect fruitier, blueberry notes in the coffee that had “fruity, blueberry” written in front of it. When I am drinking coffee outside the setting of a cupping, I am not sure if I would have the same ability—unfortunately our group consists primarily of tea drinkers.
