How does the place affect the taste?
Beer is like every food and beverage, the flavor depends on where it comes from. Beers flavor profile changes for a few reasons like: the brewing, which malt is used, how much hops are used, and where the water comes from.
In Germany, you only get four ingredients to brew your beer from. How you uses those ingredients to make your beer is your business. Brewing beer is pretty straight forward, the thing that varies the most is timing.
There are many different types of grains. You can use wheat (not in Germany, well if you want it to classify as beer) and the various types of malts like: base malts, crystal malts, roasted malts, and dark malts.
Those who say water doesn’t taste differently are wrong. Water is one of the man things that change the flavor of beer. If the water is from the Alps in Bavaria, it will taste different then if you get it from the Yakima river, this is because each place has a different mineral base. The minerals are in the water and thus can change the flavor of the water. Since, beer is mostly water the water has the most affect on the flavor of it.
