I will work at the Nisqually Community Tribal medicinal garden, harvesting and planting traditional plants to the Nisqually tribes. I also will learn all I can from Bridget Ray and Caitlin Krenn on cultural terroir, botany, and permaculture. I will work hands on in the garden three times a week for 20 hours. I will also read Wild Rose and Western Red Cedar as my text book for this project. I expect to learn a lot about Nisqually cultural practices as well as make great connections with the people that work at the garden. I expect to learn a lot about specific plants local to the area and different permaculture practices. I expect my love for the outdoors and my connection to the land increase as I explore my passion which is being outside and being surrounded by other Indigenous culture.
