Terroir, Defined
Terroir is the concept of combining certain elements of place to produce a particular flavor and/or feeling to an ingredient or meal. There are a wide variety of variables that can contribute to giving foods a taste of place. These could include the soil it was grown in, the climate of the place, the season, the method of production, the experience of the producers, and the history of the area.
