Our Favorite Insights From Tea Tasting
Over the course of the last few weeks, we have had the opportunity to taste a wide variety of teas while exploring what influences the differences in taste. Here are some of our favorite insights-
Name | Date/Time/Location | Insight |
Dewey Meyer | 9 A.M. February 2nd, 2016, Evergreen Longhouse | Dewey Meyer presented to our class with a variety of Oolong teas from Taiwan and mainland China. We tasted the teas in order from the least oxidized to the most oxidized ensuring the opportunity to taste this process almost exclusively. |
Abir Biswas |
2 P.M January 5th 2016, Evergreen Longhouse | Abir Biswas shared his knowledge of tea specifically relating to his most recent trip to India. This personal and introductory discussion on tea varietals and their processing gave us a solid and comprehensive foundation of knowledge with which we were able refer to throughout the rest of our tea-tasting experiences. |
Red Blossom Tea Company | 1 P.M. January 24th 2016, China Town, San Francisco | At the Red Blossom Tea Company’s shop in China Town, we were able to observe the contemporary marketing side of tea in the United States. We also had the opportunity to see and smell an extensive range of teas that were all grown, processed, marketed in unique ways. |
