OLYMPIA
Heritage Park at the entrance of downtown Olympia has grass lawns, walking paths, benches, gravel, and massive capitol buildings in the distance above a large , handmade lake; Capitol Lake. The place seems to have some cultural significance, being apart of the capitol atmosphere. Other than these infamous building, it is like most other parks, a small play area, and a bathroom line the sprawling grass lawns as well. I was originally drawn to this place because it seems grand and speaks to the national prowess that this place has. It seems rich in Olympia’s history.

Back at capital Lake at NE side of park looking Southwest over lake see capitol building in background. Place feels old. Lighting is bright . A bout midday. Can feel humidity and smell of grass is strong. People walk about frequently as I sit on a bench. Ahead of me is gravel and a cement barrier leading to the lake. The history heads itself in these spots. This seems like a place of tradition, a place of pride for the city as it has grown. The prosperity here is apparent, however, I do now see homeless people walking along the path; another side of this apparent wealth. The park creates some sense of belonging. It is easy to feel for the community here.

Grass area looking out over lake. The flooding potential is shown throughout the district, what can become? This place has a magnetic vibrancy. People from all walks come. Trampled grass, lowly meadow smells of flowers and fresh cut grass.. Dog poop and dogs alog with people walking are all around. It seems to be a very “clean” place. Regulated. Sanctioned and well maintained. THe few trees ine the growths of the paths. Green grass, beige sand path, brown tree trunk up to pear shaped, oval leaves. This seems national . All people walk with ease. In this place there is no apparent danger or unease . Everything seems timid, tame, and okay.
