History of Port Plaza Park

IMAG0487[1]

Port Plaza Park was opened in 1998 by the Port of Olympia in part of an attempt to diversify its land holdings and attract new business to the nearby area. The plan worked fairly well, as several businesses including Anthony’s Homeport, Batdorf and Bronson, and The Rants Group moved into the area around the same time. The ownership of the land housing the park and surrounding buildings were also part of a long-standing dispute between the Port of Olympia and the Washington State Department of Natural Resources, but it was finally resolved earlier this year.
