Hey everyone!

Gabi from Matter and Motion brought this exciting opportunity to my attention (post copied from the program’s website):

The APS CUWiP 2018 (American Physical Society Conference for Undergraduate Women in Physics) will be held Fri. Jan. 12 – Sun. Jan. 14. For Evergreen students, the preferred site is the University of Oregon (Eugene, OR).

Read all about it at the APS CUWiP at UO Conference Website. Registration deadline is Fri. Oct. 13 at 8:59pm (our local time). The application information page has a link to the application form. The application form is straightforward. You should be able to complete most of it with little difficulty.

  • Under Coverage of Conference Travel, click Yes to “Have you asked your department Chair to cover…” and “Will your department be able to cover…”
  • The Applicant Statement will require some time but it’s between 100 and 200 words. Make sure to keep a copy of your Applicant Statement in your records somewhere.

If you are accepted, there is a $45 registration cost (so you don’t pay until after you are accepted). This will be the only cost to participants (it helps defray lodging, meals, and other conference costs, and Evergreen will pay for your transportation). A registration fee waiver can be applied for if necessary.

If you are interested in this awesome conference, you should definitely apply! Note that the deadline is this Friday – sorry for the late notice, I only heard about this myself last night!

Let me know if you have any questions about this process.

All the best,

Tessa
