PORTLAND, Ore. – Providing strong leadership on the hardwood, a pair of Evergreen Geoduck women’s basketball players have also been honored for their hard work in the classroom, earning Academic All-Cascade Collegiate Conference honors as announced by the Conference late last week.
Seniors Vanessa Caskey (Tacoma, Wash./Pierce CC) and Cambria Smith (Anaheim, Calif./La Sierra University) were each honored for carrying a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2 while also carrying the extra responsibility of a student-athlete.
“We are proud of and congratulate Cambria and Vanessa on a job well done in pursuit of academic excellence,” said head women’s basketball coach Monica Heuer.
Caskey, an education major, is shooting .331 from the field for the Geoduck women, chipping in 7.6 points per game and a team-best .794 clip from the free throw line. Smith, majoring in business, has started 18 of 19 games for Evergreen, scoring an average of 4.3 points per game with 5.1 rebounds per game.
A total of 75 CCC student-athletes in men’s and women’s basketball were honored by the conference for their performance on the court and in the classroom.
