LA GRANDE, Ore. – After setting school records for rebounds and blocks in a season, sophomore Danielle Swain (Rainier, Wash./Black Hills HS) earned the respect of the coaches around the conference, earning First Team All-Cascade Conference honors, as announced by the CCC on Sunday afternoon.
Swain, who earned preseason conference honors as well, finished the season ranked third in the Cascade Conference in scoring, with 15 ppg, and rebounding, averaging 9.6 rpg. The sophomore forward was also fourth in the conference in blocks with a school-record 49 and her 3.39 offensive rebounds per game ranked her third in the conference as well.
As a freshman, Swain was named an Honorable Mention All-CCC selection and was just one of two underclassman honored by the conference as first team selections this season, joining guard Karissa Dixon of Oregon Tech.
Jessalyn Jackson of Northwest was named Cascade Conference Player of the Year after leading the conference in both scoring and rebounding. Kelsey Mattson of Warner Pacific was named Defensive Player of the Year while College of Idaho’s Felicity Jones earned Newcomer of the Year honors. Corban head coach Terry Williams was named Coach of the Year after leading the Warriors to their first regular-season conference title in school history.
The Geoducks finished the season with a record of 7-21, having made the Cascade Conference tournament for the first time since 2007-08 after posting wins in three of their final four regular season games to tie with Southern Oregon for seventh-place in the conference table.
