OLYMPIA, Wash. – A pair of goals in the first half and a pair of goals in the second half was more than enough to give the Southern Oregon Raiders victory over the Evergreen Geoducks, 4-1, in a Cascade Conference women’s soccer match on Saturday afternoon in Olympia, Wash.
The Raiders (11-5-1, 7-1-0 CCC) got on the scoreboard in the 16th minute when Kennedy Roteman headed it in for the 1-0 lead over Evergreen (4-9-1, 2-5-0 CCC). SOU made it 2-0 just a few minutes later as Stephanie Carr put one past Lauren Davidson (Seattle, Wash./North Seattle CC) in the 18th minute as the Raiders took the 2-0 lead. The Geoducks struck just seconds before half as Katie Mendoza (Burien, Wash./Highline HS) found Sophie Krauza (Las Vegas, Nev./Centennial HS) and Krauza snuck it past Jessica Kuehlwein to get within a single goal, 2-1.
In the second half, the Raiders struck again in the 51st minute on a goal by Denise Powell. The lead hit 4-1 in the 61st minute on an own goal as Southern Oregon momentarily pulled into a tie for first place in the CCC with their seventh win of the year.
SOU outshot the Geoducks, 12-3, on the afternoon. Davidson finished with five saves on the afternoon while Kuehlwein made a single save for Southern Oregon.
The Geoducks wrap up the regular season on Monday afternoon when they play host to Oregon Tech. Southern Oregon will also be in action on Monday, traveling up to Kirkland to take on Northwest.
